November Budget update. It's my second month following The Budget Mom and using Budget by Paycheck and I have some good things to report! Last month I declared myself an emotional spender. Shopping and spending way too much because I felt less than. Because I was bored.
So then we come to the month with the BEST DEALS EVER! All of the advertisements and hype around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Don't miss out on this deal. Even if you don't need it. Because what if you need it in February when it's not on sale. You'd better grab it now. These are the thoughts that went through my head ever Black Friday sale.
Confession….as long as I can remember, I always spent more on myself then the gifts I actually purchased for others. And it was always unplanned money which means it ended up as more debt. I mean…it's my favorite time of year…sweater and boot weather. So one gift for them one for me.
I still spent some unplanned money on myself. But it's not about perfection, it's about progress. I wanted to see my progress from last year. I'm proud of myself. Was it easy? HELL NO! I emptied so many carts…and told myself…"Remember your goals."
So what do these numbers show?
This picture compares this year to last year. Why did do this? Because I wasn't perfect, but I made huge progress!
Clothes. I did have unplanned spending on me, but actually on things I needed. They weren't planned but I didn't use my credit cards. (aka huge win) I realized that when I cleaned out my closet over the summer and I kept my favorite jeans they all happened to have holes in the legs… on purpose. So I needed a pair without holes! They of course were on sale. A mask with snowflakes…tis the season. And my favorite underwear on huge sale…The things we look forward to as we get older.
Savings. I always planned to save, but never did. I would end up using it on something I probably didn't need. But in November I saved $660 and invested (outside of my 401k)
Income. Yes, I have a health coaching business that brings in income too, but why not sell some things around the house to bring in more? Plus, I wanted to show those who don't want to start a business that there are other ways to make extra income. If you haven't checked out Ibotta or Rakuten yet, I put the links below. You get money back for shopping at your favorite stores on the things you buy for no extra cost.
Let's go December!
